Living Through the Art of Romanticism

                Living through freedom is one of the basic in romanticism. Romanticism refers to the freedom of human, not only about freedom in life, but also freedom in thinking, freedom in creation! Unlike in the previous art style, the neo classicism, romanticism more refers into something touching and emotional. Here, this essay will explain about the basic of romanticism and its influence towards the art nowadays.

Romanticism is the advance era of neo classicism. The period time of this era is around late 18th century. As we learn, romanticism is about freedom, freedom of love, freedom of peace, or freedom of thinking and creation! During this age, painting dominated by style of watercolor with soft color and soft pastel color. Everything here is reminder of art is soft, are is beauty, and art is created to relax one mind. Romanticism is a new style of art focusing more deep into putting a light color and love scheme story in the art. The story reveal mostly about love and relationship between other, sometimes the meaning behind the story is a bit erotic, yet funny and joyful! For instance, this painting of Romeo and Juliet, expressing of love between these two love birds. From the first sight, it will be clear that they are in love, yet the scene is quite erotic in term of kissing scene. Being supported with the color combination with lots of light and calm color such as green and light color. The scene describe love story between the Romeo and Juliet, kissing is the sign of love. However, there is some painting of romanticism describe about demon, the demon of sex (succubus and incubus). For instance this painting a demon is sitting on one woman body, the demon is perhaps or clearly is a incubus. A demon that ate their victim soul through sex. Here lies on the meaning of suffer yet tragic story. But still, it is romanticism and the meaning of this painting still reveal of romanticism even though in wrong way, such as being loved and the soul is eaten by demon.

As the world proceed an industrial revolution have come across the world. Many artists start their painting through the modern era. Romanticism, however still could survive up until now, even though there are few or less people still doing the style of romanticism. Up until now, from the style of romanticism, people could understand, during the 18th century, there is still lack of freedom toward expressing art. However, romanticism express many its style through the other media, such as literature and music. For instance, in the literature, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and John Keats produced the volume of poetry which manifesting lyrical drama. And there are many other book inspired by the romanticism period. The Frankenstein for instance, it is a science fiction, yet realistic story about science gone wild and terribly made a creature. This is also a reflection and a warning from writer to the people.

As the conclusion, romanticism is a new style which focusing on fiving emotional feeling of art, not the rational. Romanticism let their freedom gone wild and start art based on natural feeling, erotic, and also light color to add this must make the audience feel relax. However, apart from making comfortable, some art make the audience realized on something. The true emotional meaning of reality. Hence, romanticism focusing on making the audience could feel what happen in the painting or art, by focusing on mentally, giving the touch of emotional feeling. Nowadays, we could find romanticism among books and music, everything expressing about love and erotic is most likely romanticism. Today romanticism being used to express love and erotic feeling by books, music, and art mostly. At last, romanticism affect us in many ways.
