The Art of Rococo
Living in the period of late Baroque, it mean the early age of Rococo. Within a few years, art style have been change, nonetheless, it has been developed very drastic! From very theatrical theme into very soft and decorative art. Very interesting indeed, how the change could become so drastic and how It could be very beautiful at the same time. Here, this essay will explain more about Rococo, the art during that era, and the influenced of Rococo for people.
Rococo is the style of beauty. The sense of decorative very thick here and you will probably see many building being decorated with lots of decorations, whether it is usable or not. Rococo is the art of decorative, all of the thing being too decorative, yet it added the sense of beauty in some way. Rococo is the advance day of Baroque, even though Baroque is the style of gloomy theatrical with lots of shading and darkness in the painting. However, rococo is the calm art, it is very bright with lots of pastel color, the art is very bright with lots of decorative in many ways. For instance try comparing the Tribute painting of Michelangelo with the painting called ‘’The Swing’’. Both of the painting own a specific way of color and different, in baroque most all the color are dark with combination of red and blue, while in the late baroque a.k.a Rococo, light color dominate the painting, light magenta, yellow, and cyan. However, the changing of the color does not affect the style. However the style becomes more and more exaggerated in many ways! The expression is twice as the Baroque, as the result for beginner and common people it will be hard to get the code of what being displayed in the painting.
Despite of the style being used during Rococo era, the art of the Rococo is interesting. As the previous art era, people tend only see the painting only, not the other part of the painting itself. In this era, art decorative is important. You will barely see painting with no decorative pattern around the frame. Other than the art of painting, as we proceed to the building art. No surprise, the building built in many decorative patterns around the wall and edges. Some expert believes this pattern only represents beauty and only as decorative, no other specific purposed. As the time pass, the decoration become lots, even a chair being decorated in such many ways. It look likes more gothic, cute gothic a.k.a kawaii gothic in Japanese word. Beside the decorative pattern in building, there are more comes. Chair, bed, bench, and even spoon. All being too decorated and still no specific purposed on how the decorations will be. The high decorated things will be only available for rich people, for common people, it will be hard to see their things in such lots of decorations.
After the explanation of what is Rococo, there will more explanation on how Rococo affects human life. In the beginning of rococo, building is still plain, no decoration along them, no massive craft, only plain building. Hence, the development of interior design, they invent what we called as decoration. From simple decoration, a floral pattern into something huge and massive, combinations of lots floral patterns! Step by steps, the development of the decorations have been gone further. The pattern of the decoration improved a lots, from one pattern into many combination of pattern which sometimes will makes us dizzy just by seeing them. However, by this invention, the building right now look better rather than a plain building with wall only. As the opposite, the decoration of some items will be look so fancy and people see them as expensive items. As a result, the decorations pattern and number affect the point of view of how other will see the items or building. Some will say it is magnificent beauty, while other might say too expensive, what with this mass?
The conclusion of this essay is Rococo is the day of decoration. It is the advance of Baroque and the early day of Neoclassic. The art is beautiful with the pattern and light pastel color. It refers lots of softness in one era. However, the style is exaggerating in some ways of the Baroque still exist even more over. In similarity with Baroque, this style takes what we called as theatrical way. Many event and tragedy happen during this period; industrial revolution, church revolution, and lots of inventions!
