When a religious country has a decent and unusual ritual within sexual activity, isn’t it opposing the belief? The sex and mountain documentary are using a decent camera holding because this documentary looks like you are in trip or vacation. There is not much steady using of camera except for the shots that are have large area such as the outside of the temple and the beginning of the video which they interview Mardiyah before she met the man that will have the ritual with. There is also a hidden camera that used in this video because it is prohibited to use camera inside the room where you will have the ritual (the sex ritual). That is why, it is quite not satisfying when you see the movie. It totals dark and quite shaking when Patrick tried to get the interview with one of the prostitute inside the room. However, due to this problem, it adds such a different tense of atmosphere within the story. You are recording with hidden camera, no lighting, no proper sound, but it has to be turning not the worst. The challenge is real and I can see the only way to fix this is through editing process in the preproduction.
In some parts of the movie, people are willingly telling the story behind the ritual. Most of them are secretly goes to the ritual without their relatives knowing it. The belief upon this ritual is money and prosperity when you are annual attends this ritual. The people are not shamed and belief that this is part of their religion. This documentary shown us how the process of the ritual and it seems really different with how must the Moslem do their praying. Most of the Moslem are not belief in animism either dynamism. This, somehow are not related each other and opposing the religion. But the people who are running the ritual beliefs, this is ancestor heritage and must be right.
There is no issue that I found aside from camera and the process of taking the footages, which I can say need full of courage. You are in the ritual where people do the sex according to religion, but some come to enjoy the free sex there. People who distinctly understand the ritual and not come will be having different opinion for people who run the ritual. And they are taking the footages directly. That is how it supposed to be, removing all the embarrassment of our own self. The documentary is not bad as opening for our video diaries 2 class and I can see more into my country. I am not even know this kind of ritual exist within my country and just after the lecturer show us the movie, I can understand why this is not made into publicity yet.
