The talk show in @america was quite splendid. It was about a man who converted to islam start his business and claim to create innovative idea combining Islamic learning and basic needs. Mr. Geraldez once a normal US citizen. He is then converted into islam for some reasons. Despite of he being converted to other religion, his idea is not changing. Geraldez then start innovating ideas to help him and keeping his religion align.
He is innovator, indeed. Geraldez surely applies his religions way to his job. He created tie that is not using silk, because silk is forbid for male in Islam belief. It is his religion saying that man should not wear jewelry and silk is one of the fine jewelry back then. Therefore, he creates the non silk tie. His second idea is the healthy snack bar that will make the consumer feel no hunger for about 9 hours. This snack is intended to help people who cannot fasting because of their high metabolism. People who ate this snack bar said to stay full for about 9 hours. His third idea is the syariah tourism. He wants to create a place where the costumer is not worried about a tourist site that might not suitable for them. He wants to create a place where islam people can enjoy without distracting their belief.
Several messages I received from this talk show are first, if we are minority in a country, go to other country that we are not minority, your business will grow rapidly. Mr. Geraldez is a moslem, if he started his business in US, majority won’t buy his product (considering now Trump is very sensitive about Islam). Therefore, to get more costumer, go to better country. Second, make product that you are interested to make, but the market need it as well. Creating innovative product can be about redefining the old concept, like the snack bar for instance. Do not give up to early. It might be hard for the first year of the business, but after that, we will know everything of this field and patience is the key.
I am sure I enjoy the talk show, even though it is not about general entrepreneurship, but this one is more focusing to the Islamic entrepreneurship. However, I then realized that I get the ideas and the message of the talk show.
