Week 9 Movie Screening

The broken narrative

Previously we watched a movie in titles of Pulp Fiction and it totally twisting and confusing. There is many parts of the movie which made me confuse. The story take place on some group of people with a purposed, delivering the ‘’something’’ in the suitcase. The story began with a couple try to rob the bank and when in the middle of the robbery the story goes forward into two guys in black suit drive their cars into an apartment. Afterward, there is many dialogues describing their purposed to go the apartment, and then the story proceeds into other event! As I could remember there are about 7-8 different events with each event occur about 10-20 minutes long. The chopped narrative does make everyone confuse including myself, I need about 20-30 minutes to understand what is the story and what kind of narrative did this story use. At least I could understand the story and the true narrative order. However, after I ordered the narrative, the story more nonsense. There are lots of missing plots if it ordered by it event time. The broken narrative made the story more reasonable in term of story and plots.  If they put them in order, perhaps the movie will last for 3 hours of watching. In the broken narrative, there is no need to. The director skipped some event probably the small event, they only take the general which audience could understand. Therefore, this make audience confuse, for instance when the scene of Vincent died shot by the man in the toilet. There is no explanation on how Vincent could end up there and also the event when Vincent accompanies the lady who’s over doses. There are many of plots missing yet in that case that make the story more interest since it being chopped part by part which will confuse the audience. There is no problem if the story being chopped into some parts, as long as the audience could understand it and as long as the story remains on the same flow from the beginning. And this story begins with the robbery scene and end with the scene the couple move outside into the city by motorbike, the stolen motorbike.
